The numbers are in... 2021 was a year to remember for cigars! All major production countries reported massive increases in exports to the United States and the result is a year unlike anything ever seen before. 2021 came just short of half a billion cigar imports in the U.S., almost doubling the figures from 10 years ago.
We've only just wrapped up #ProCigarFestival2022 and they want to do it all again in 2023? Yes please!
In an article written by Greg Mottola, the details about the FDA's first study specifically dedicated to cigars have been released. In summary, the FDA has caught up with what has been fairly common knowledge in the industry for decades, but has still determined that more research has to be done in regards to the exact health repercussions cigars have one people.
Even if the FDA has been a ruthless regulator for the cigar industry, research of this kind must be encouraged and supported by the cigar industry since it's the only way for the FDA to consider premium cigars in an entirely different light to mass-consumption tobacco products.

On Tuesday Charlie Minato posted "10 THOUGHTS: PLEASE STOP MARKETING CIGARS TO CHILDREN" on Halfwheel. The article sparked a massive debate, piling up over 140 comments from users discussing different points of view on the topic. Ultimately, Charlie expressed concern that some cigars are marketed in a way that the FDA could potentially perceive as welcoming to Children.

Charlie Minato wrote an article on @halfwheel about the end of Mitch Zeller's time as the FDA's Head of Center for Tobacco Products and the beginning of someone new in that position as the FDA has begun accepting applications. Sounds like fun, doesn't it?
It's that time of the year where "Year of the [insert animal]" cigars start dropping in stores. This trend is thanks to Chinese New Year and the growing cigar bro community in China getting some love from cigar manufacturers.
@cigaraficionado posted an article about an upcoming Movie by former Drew Estate Exec and Cigar Bro @marvinsamel , iMordecai tells the story of his father, an old-fashioned Holocaust survivor who breathes new life through a simple iPhone. It's a coming of (senior) age story with plenty of nods and tips of the hat to other Cigar Bros and will probably make for even better watching with a good cigar in hand.
